Erickson Living: Project Management of an Intranet Redesign

Tracy led the effort to redesign Erickson Living’s Intranet which implemented a new design and more fully utilized Microsoft SharePoint’s functionality. The project included audience segmentation, incorporation of the company’s social media feeds and better organization of content. Feedback from company leaders was extremely positive.

Erickson Living, a national leader in senior housing had launched a Microsoft SharePoint site as a communications and collaboration tool for its 18 communities and 12,000 employees. The original launch did not take into consideration user interface or functionality of the platform. A user survey revealed issues with navigation, search, design and training. Using this feedback, Tracy was able to lead a cross-functional team with a major redesign and relaunch of the intranet that immediately added value to the organization. The new site incorporated the use of video, added the company’s social media feeds from Facebook and Twitter as well as news media coverage the company’s public relations team generated. Content was reorganized to make it easier for employees to find the content they were looking for. A rotating carousel on the front page allowed the Corporate Communications team to post multiple stories throughout the day to improve the flow of information across the enterprise. Training was also reconfigured to better meet the needs of the end users. Audience segmentation and social networking features were also enabled to better target messages and connect people across the company.
